         Racing - Centre

The season is underway already with a handicap series on the go over on the west coast and organized by the resurgent Kapiti Cycling Club.

Information on this series and what is coming up is available on the Port Nicholson Poneke club site – www.pnp.org.nz

Also the Centre Road Champs are being hosted by Kapiti on the weekend of 28 September – daylight saving also kicks in this weekend.  This is very early for the Champs and it’s great to see them being run ahead of the Nationals in late October.

         Racing - Masterton

            Tandem Tour

2008 sees this 2 day Tour return to the Wairarapa.  No doubt there will be several local crews taking part and will also attract strong teams from around the country again.

The Tour will take place on 20 & 21 September and we will of course be looking for help. If you could give up some time on one of those days, it would be greatly appreciated.

            Tour of the Wairarapa

The other biggie of the year is the Tour which will be on Sunday, 16 November.

The Club is being asked to provide more assistance this year …….enough said.  More to come later.

         Racing…and still there’s more!!!

The Club Nationals are in Wanganui this year and this is a great opportunity to oit yourself against the nations best.

Gear up for Labour Weekend and give it a crack.

As a warm up, the Wanganui Club is running their annual Grand Prix on Saturday, 6 September….just around the corner and a must if you want to go to the Nationals.

.         Club Rides

Rider numbers are down a bit because of the onset of winter but those who are turning up are enjoying good tempo rides.

It’s also time to look at increasing your distances so if you wish, come prepared on Sundays for 3 hour rides.

Don’t forget though that safety is paramount and you need to ensure that the rules of the road and peleton are obeyed…..and everyone stays safe!

Well that’s enough from us at the moment….more updates will follow as we gear up for 08 / 09.
