Race Information & Rules

ENTRY DETAILS

Complete and return the official entry from with fee. If you require an acknowledgement of entry please provide a stamped self-addressed envelope.  The race is open to both Registered and non-registered runners.  On-line entries are available at www.activetiming.co.nz

 LATE ENTRIES

Postal entries must be received by 7th October 2013. Late Entries will be accepted up to 30 minutes prior to the selected race start. A $10.00 fee will be charged

 REFUNDS

Entry fees (less $15.00) will be refunded for withdrawals received in writing by 7th October 2013

 REGISTRATION

Race numbers can be collected from Makoura College at Makora Rd, (see map) between 4-6pm on Saturday, or from 6.30am Sunday. Participants may change events up to 30 minutes prior to the start of the event.

 Competitors expecting to take more than 5 hours to complete the marathon should request an early start, phone Craig Roberts. Marshals or drink stations will not be provided before 7.00am. Times for all events will only be recorded until 12 noon.  No times recorded for 5km event.

 The Half Marathon Walk is not a refereed event and is open to all levels and forms of walking.  If you wish to run or jog you should enter as a runner. Participants in the 5 and 10 km recreational event may run and/or walk.

 T-SHIRTS

High quality Kooldri T-Shirts are available for $35.00 in men’s and women’s styles. Orders taken at registration will incur additional postage charges.

FACILITIES

·       Changing, showers and toilets at Makoura College.

·       Drink Station locations are marked on the course map. Special drinks will not be catered for. Make your own arrangements for other drinks. These may be handed out at drink stations but must not interfere with another competitor.

·       First Aid Facilities will be available on the course.

 PRIZE GIVING

Prize giving will start approx 1:30 pm at Makoura College. Participants must be present to claim both merit and spot prizes.
Certificates will be available on-line from www.activetiming.co.nz

 Merit prizes - Marathon and Half Marathon.
 For the 1st three male and female finishers in each grade, and the first three participants in the Half Marathon Walk.

Course Description

The Marathon will start outside the main gate to Makoura College. A quick out and back for 400 metres along Makora Rd then turn left into Johnston Street, then right into Colombo Road, past Lakeview School, then right into Te Ore Ore Road. The course turns right by the sub station into Watsons Road, right into Stronvar Road and down the Lee-Pakaraka Road. Turn right at the Martinborough-Masterton Road and head back to Makoura College, turn left into Makora Rd, then do it all again.

To finish turn left into Makora Road, left into the school grounds and through the finishing chute.
Half marathoners just do one lap.

The 10km competitors  follow the marathon course, before heading along the Waipoua river bank, up Blair Street and past the hospital, turn around approximately 50m past the 1st drink station and then head home via scenic Henley Lake and the way you came.  Do not repeat the 400m up and down Makora Rd.

5km competitors follow the marathon course and then complete a course within the Henley Lake precinct and then return to Makoura College.
