RACE INFORMATION AND RULES
1. Race Numbers: May be collected from Makoura College at Makora Rd, (see map) between 4-6pm on Saturday, or on Sunday from 6.30am onwards. The race number is to be worn high on the front of the singlet for the duration of the race and be clearly visible at the finish.
2. Marathon Walk: Competitors expecting to take more than 5 hours to complete the marathon may request an early start time (6:00 am) (ph 06 378 6320). We cannot provide marshalls or drink stations before 7.00am.
3. Late Entries will be accepted up to 30 minutes prior to the selected race start. A $6.00 fee will be charged on all late entries.
4. Change of Event: Can occur provided organisers are notified 30 minutes prior to the start of the event.
5. Registered and non-registered runners: The race is open to all athletes.
6. This event is sanctioned by and will be run under the rules of Athletics New Zealand.
7. Changing, Showers and Toilets are available at Makoura College.
8. Drink and Sponge Stations: Refer to course map. Special drinks will not be catered for. Make your own arrangements for other drinks. These may be handed out at drink stations but must not interfere with another competitor.
9. Times: Only finishing times up to 12:00 noon will be recorded. (We need time to complete results before the prize giving).
10. Traffic: Public roads are open at all times.
11. Prize Giving: Will take place at the Makoura College from 1.00 p.m. for all Merit and Spot prizes (spot prize-winners must be present).
12. Refunds: Entry fees (less $5.00) will be refunded for withdrawals received in writing by the entry closing date.
13. High quality Dri Fit T-Shirts are available for around $35.00. (Actual cost to be confirmed) Orders taken at registration will incur additional postal charges.
14. Entry Acknowledgement: Please enclose stamped self-addressed envelope with entry if this is required.
15. First Aid Facilities: Will be available on the course. The organisers reserve the right to withdraw any entrant they consider unsuitable to continue for medical reasons.

17. Competitors must stay within one metre of the right hand edge of the road except when passing other competitors or as directed by course officials. This rule is for your safety.
18. Privacy Act 1993: Entry information will be used by Athletics Masterton for promotional and/or result purposes.

20. Post Race Massage: Will be available on site following the event. $10.00 for 10 minutes.

FASTEST TIME AWARDS |

Course Description The Marathon will start outside the main gate to Makoura College. A quick out and back for 400 metres along Makora Rd then turn left into Johnston St, then right into Colombo Road, past Lakeview School, then right into Te Ore Ore Road. The course turns right by the sub station into Watsons Rd, right into Stronvar Rd and down the Lee-Pakaraka Rd. Turn right at the Martinborough-Masterton Road and head back to Makoura College, turn left into Makora Rd, then do it all again. To finish turn left into Makora Rd, left into the school grounds and through the finishing chute. Half marathoners just do one lap. The 10km competitors follow the marathon course, before heading along the Waipoua river, up Blair St and past the hospital, turn around approximately 50m past the 1st drink station and then head home via scenic Henley Lake and the way you came. Do not repeat the 400m up and down Makora Rd. |
