Race Conditions
1. Race 1 (11 April 2010) will be a handicap race starting at 10:00am for midgets and juniors. All other grades start at 10.15am. Walkers will only do 4 km (2 laps). A handicap will be provided, based on previous times. Please turn up early and register by 9.45am so the event can start on time.
2. Following race 1 you will be placed in a grade depending on your ability. There will be four senior running grades, one walking grade and three grades for kids. We will attempt to provide even numbers in each grade and keep people in the same grade throughout the series. The handicappers reserve the right to regrade any individual at any time.
A Junior Grade, to be known as J grade, will be held. A Junior is defined as a competitor 16 years and under on the day of the first race (ie. 11th April). Competitors in this grade will run 4km (two 2km laps). If they want junior runners can choose to run in the senior grade.
An Intermediate Grade, to be known as I grade, will be held. An intermediate is defined as a competitor 13 years and under on the day of the first race (ie. 11th April). Competitors in this grade will run 2km (one 2km lap). If they want intermediate runners can choose to run in the junior grade.
3. A Midget Grade to be known as M Grade will also be held. A midget is defined as a competitor 10 years and under on the day of the first race (ie. 11th April). Competitors in this grade will run 1km. If they want midget runners can choose to run in the intermediate grade.
4. All other races (A, B, C, D & E grades) will consist of three 2km laps. E grade is for walkers only.
5. All competitors should always bring a change of clothing. Be prepared for wet or cold weather conditions. Cross country events will never be cancelled.
6. Points will be awarded on a scale of 20 for winner, 19 for second, 18 for third etc. In addition two points will be awarded for each person entering and completing each race. With regradings, points will be transferred between grades, but to a maximum equivalent to the points of the grade leader of the new grade.
7. There will be a $5.00 entry fee per race. This will reduce to $2.00 per race if the runner is a fully subscribed member of Athletics Masterton. All Junior, Intermediate and Midget Grade entrants pay $2.00 per race.
8. On Race Day, spot prizes will be drawn at random from all finishers and helpers. These will be drawn during the announcements at race conclusion. Winners must be present otherwise prizes will be redrawn.
9. At the end of the series, prizes and certificates will be awarded to the first four placings in each grade, provided they have completed 4 or more races. In the event of a draw in any grade, the handicap winner between the two at the last race both competed in will be awarded the higher placing. Your highest points from six races ONLY, will count towards your final placing.
10. Competitors who complete all eight races of the series will receive a bonus prize.
11. Points for the Trust House series will not be awarded at the Club cross-country championships (race 9). All series participants are urged to attend the club championships, but only financial club members are eligible for club trophies. All runners start together at 10.00am for this event. Spot prizes will be awarded between all runners and helpers who participate in the Club Championships.
12. Prize giving for the trust house series and club championships will be held on 25 July at the Sports Bowl clubrooms from approximately 12.30 pm onwards.
13. By entering this series of races competitors agree that, they assume responsibility for there own actions and their children’s/dependants actions during these events and while on location. Competitors agree to follow the course instructions provided, to conduct themselves in a manner to prevent injury or harm to themselves and others, also not to bring Athletics Masterton or Trust House into disrepute or anything that could jeopardize future events.
14. Course Removal: The A & B grades will be responsible for picking up the course, also they will still have to sort things out to ensure completion of their morning tea duty.
A grade removes the course following races 1, 3, 5 and 7
B grade removes the course following races 2, 4, 6 and 8

Results
Provisional results may be announced on race day, spot prizes will be given out and morning tea provided after each race. Results will be forwarded to competitors only if they have competed in the previous week’s race. If you have email, please advise when registering as this helps the club and Trust House to save costs on postage and photocopying. Results can also be found at www.athleticsmasterton.org.nz
It is the responsibility of each competitor to advise a member of the committee of any errors prior to the next race.
Morning Tea Duty
Morning tea grades will be responsible for, boiling zip heaters, providing a plate, making and pouring the tea and cleaning up after race day.

C & D grades will be responsible for morning tea at race 2 (18 April), race 5 (30 May) and race 8 (11 July)

E, J & I grades will be responsible for morning tea at race 3 (2 May) and race 6 (13 June).

A & B grades will be responsible for morning tea at race 4 (16 May) and race 7 (27 June).

All club members are expected to bring a plate and help at the final prize giving.
